The clash almost as eagerly anticipated as the British & Irish Lions Tour itself, the Classic Wallabies vs British & Irish Legends Showcase proved that the 12-year wait since these two teams last met was well and truly worth it.
The highly anticipated series saw the Classic Wallabies go head-to-head with the British & Irish Legends across two thrilling matches, as some of the game’s greatest names returned to the field. Rugby icons including Stephen Larkham, Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Mike Tindall, Shane Byrne and Sean Lamont laced up their boots once more, delighting fans and reigniting famous rivalries.
The series opened at Melbourne’s AAMI Park, where the Classic Wallabies claimed a memorable 41–31 victory in a pulsating contest. The action then shifted north to Sydney’s iconic North Sydney Oval for Game Two, where the Wallabies again proved too strong, securing a 26–12 win to seal the series.
