Queensland Rugby League Overhauls OTT Offering with DoubleTake Sports and Layercake

It was an incredibly busy off-season for the Queensland Rugby League, as DoubleTake Sports and our partners at LayerCake overhauled and relaunched Qplus.tv, alongside undertaking a full redesign of the their state-wide broadcast graphics and streaming infrastructure.

DoubleTake Sports is incredibly proud to have been involved in this process, expanding our existing partnership with the QRL, which began in 2021. LayerCake have developed the new Qplus.tv, powered by their innovative StreamCake offering that orchestrates streaming services and the underlying OTT technologies and publishing platform, while DoubleTake Sports have fully overhauled the QRL’s on-screen broadcast graphics as well as the production, monitoring and quality assurance behind Qplus.tv.

Providing a brand-new look and feel for the QRL’s entire state-wide competitions, the new broadcast graphics pack is faithfully true to the already sophisticated, nuanced, and highly visible branding of Queensland Rugby League.

Developed in the industry-leading Singular.live, the new graphics pack is highly customisable, functional, and scalable, while being sympathetic to the nuances of rugby league.

Ensuring the QRL’s longstanding commercial partners are accommodated, the new graphics pack features full commercial integration. With inventory able to be dynamically changed within minutes by the QRL’s own commercial team, as well as clubs, through our exclusive inventory management portal.

The new pack also provides full statistics integration for Hostplus Cup broadcasts, providing viewers with more comprehensive information than ever before.

Thanks to the new Qplus.tv and broadcast graphics pack, the QRL has been able to achieve a complete overhaul of their OTT offering, ushering in a new era of coverage for rugby league in Queensland.

The new broadcast graphics can be seen on the newly refreshed Qplus.tv, as well as Kayo and 9Now.
