With the Women’s Rugby World Cup set to kick off later this month in England, the Wallaroos and Wales have gone head-to-head in a two-match Test series, marking an important milestone in both countries World Cup preparations.
The series also marked an important milestone for DoubleTake Sports, providing host broadcast coverage for both matches on behalf of Rugby Australia and the Nine Network.
Game One, played at Queensland’s home of rugby – Ballymore Stadium, saw Wales claim a 21–12 victory over the Wallaroos in a clash disrupted by multiple lightning delays. Despite the challenging conditions, the opening Test provided valuable match experience for both sides as they fine-tuned their World Cup campaigns.
The second Test, staged at the iconic North Sydney Oval, marked a turning point for the Wallaroos. Responding emphatically to their Brisbane defeat, Australia produced a dominant performance to secure a 36–5 win over Wales, delivering a significant confidence boost heading into the World Cup.
Broadcast coverage across the two Tests featured more than nine broadcast cameras, including box lenses and a dedicated cine camera, alongside onsite TMO (video referee) and FPRO (medical citing) facilities to ensure world-class officiating and analysis.
